One recent study reviewed the acceptance rates at American business schools for students with low GPAs, defined as those below 3.0. For this category of applicants, GMAT scores of less than 700 were associated with acceptance rates of just 3% at top 10 institutions, 20% at programs ranked #11-16, and 27% at the 17th through the 25th best schools. GMAT scores of 720-740 boosted these respective acceptance rates to 10%, 31%, and 45%, and scores of 750 or above gave those low-GPA applicants respective admission odds of 13%, 43%, and 65%. Obviously, a high GMAT score combined with a high GPA is the best-case scenario, but the GMAT can improve the prospects of any business school applicant, regardless of his or her GPA. Meet an Amsterdam GMAT Tutor: Deborah L.
Deborah L. is a talented and dedicated educator and businesswoman who has been teaching individual and classroom GMAT prep for seven years. She holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from UCLA's Anderson School of Management. A native of New York City, she has been living in Amsterdam since 2014, and she previously taught GMAT prep in the Los Angeles area.
Before her relocation to Amsterdam, Deborah was employed by a banking firm in New York City, and she is currently working for an Amsterdam financial services company. Her student evaluations indicate that she is respected for her business experience and for her ability to break down the sections of the GMAT into manageable and understandable concepts. Between her teaching and business careers, Deborah is very busy, but she tries to make time for hobbies such as tai chi, running, and cooking.
